Jobs

I am currently still in the process of finding a fit position for myself and I have absolutely no idea where exactly I will end up. I do know that I will start my lab sometime this year and somewhere beautiful on this planet. Therefore, if you somehow bumped into this website, and happen to be someone who is visionary and adventurous, and has faith, or actually, somewhat interests in the research scope of this yet-to-be lab, please contact me via Kaiyue.Jason.Ma+ImFeelingLucky@gmail.com, and together we can freely imagine our future projects as teammates. Alternatively, I am happy to simply chat with you to learn about what you are experiencing at your stage of career, or I can energetically complain about how competitive, and possibly unsustainable, the academic job market is right now.

We are seeking visionary and adventurous researchers across multiple career stages to join our lab within the [$Department] at [$Institution]. Our core mission is to search for opportunities from biodiversity and translate them into applications with real-world impact. Not to brag or anything but the lab has a pretty good background in genetics and molecular biology and we welcome talents with expertise in genomics, bioinformatics, zoology, biochemistry, biophysics, or, medicine, statistics, immunology, or mechanics, mathematics, or really, anything. Actually, if you are someone who has never grown too old to keep asking why, you are the person who we are looking for.

Post-doc

Candidates for postdoctoral positions should have or be close to obtaining a doctoral degree. Prospective postdocs will be required to work independently, multi-task, rapidly troubleshoot, quickly learn new skills, and assist in mentoring students and junior scientists. Interested candidates are encouraged to send a cover letter and a CV to [$Institutional_Email]. Bioinformaticians, particularly those with experience with Claude Code or similar tools, are preferred.

Postgraduate Associates

Postgraduate candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree. If you are unsure whether or not you want to go to graduate school and want to have a trial before making any commitment, we can help find ways to accommodate you in the lab, and fair payment will be arranged. Prior experience with research projects is desirable but not required. Interested candidates should email [$Institutional_Email], including a personal statement and a CV.

Students

Graduate students will be recruited per [$Institution]’s procedures. Undergraduates interested in research projects or high school students seeking internships are also encouraged to get in touch. Prospective students are welcome to contact [$Institutional_Email] and [$Current_member_email] to learn more about anything you want to know about the lab.

P.S.
In the spirit of not reinventing wheels, I would love to share my PhD mentor Dr. Monkol Lek’s blog on Graduate School Admissions. I agree with over 85% of the content and therefore will not need to write a similar piece myself.
